I want to start by saying that I love this game and all the work the devs have put into making this such an amazing platfighter. Balance is a tricky thing, but you guys have done an awesome job.
That said, Olympia feels like she’s in a rough spot right now. She did recieve some nice changes to her throws, but her main issue still remains, which is her extreme fragility and disadvantage state for not a lot of unique power. Her offense feels on par or even weaker than other characters in her archetype, but she still has the same fragility she had when she was a terrifying character at launch. It feels odd for a character with such a slow run speed and short ranged moves to be so fragile when compared to other rush down characters and it makes her a very unappealing choice when she’s punished so much more severely for making mistakes.
I’m not saying she should suddenly become a heavy weight or that she should become faster or even stronger offensively. Her slow run speed was always part of her unique character design in R1 and even having a tricky recovery is cool, but it feels like a lot of her problems as a character would be solved if she was just made a middle weight or even somewhere around Fleet’s weight. As it stands, she’s too light to scrap and take chances with since the moment she makes a single mistake she’s knocked off stage and killed so much earlier than other characters. Being heavier would allow her to stay on stage a little bit longer and slug it out while not being as prone to the sudden hamster death or sub 30% cheese that gets her killed so regularly.
At the moment, there doesn’t seem to be much reason to play her over other characters like Zetterburn, Ranno, Maypul or Galvan when all these characters kind of do the same things she does, but better, easier and without the weaknesses. If she was allowed to take some hits and not be as unreliably volatile I think it would go a long way to making her more solo viable and less an occasioinal pocket pick character.
