I hate to be negative in any way towards this game or be a complainer in general, especially because I do love this game, and I understand how hard everyone has worked and are continuing to work on it. But something that I find super frustrating is how much you’re punished early in the season for losing games, while the rewards seem to be the same as any other time. Maybe I’m just missing some info, but I just played my placements and then continued for about 4 games where I got docked 24 points for losing a close game to someone who’s playing their placement matches but I know normally sits about a rank higher than me, 20 points for losing to someone who was like 6 points ahead of me, and I only gained 11 for beating someone around 40 points below. I can understand wanting to level people up faster who may have been placed in a lower tier, but I personally feel that after your first loss or two the point algorithm should revert to whatever the standard is for the rest of the season. I don’t know if it would make it any less frustrating, but could someone at least explain the early-season point system and how it differs from mid to late season? It just seems unnecessarily punishing and makes me more hesitant to load into ranked if I have the potential to lose 10% of my rank in one game to someone at my same level, or even to someone who should be at least a rank higher but just hasn’t played all their placements yet
thanks devs, love yall <3

i posted this problem ages ago:
the games treatmeant of unranked players is simply horrible. if someone is currently in their placements matches the system should not treat them as someone on your level just because they currently are at your mmr while they still climb. Other games like SF6 do this so much better by giving you max points for a win against an unranked and making you loose min points on a loss against them. its the only fair way from the perspective of the already ranked player.
