I thought about how Smash Ultimate has hundreds of tips it randomly cycles through while loading, and thought something similar could be a great addition to Rivals 2!
I think it’d be a great way to make queue times more bearable, while also explaining a lot of mechanics that might be difficult for newcomers to learn! Rivals’s mechanics are a lot less intuitive than Smash, so it could really use something like this!
It’s also a way to explain how characters work in a way that would be much easier than making full character tutorials like from Rivals 1, especially if you add a Tips menu that lets players view all tips relating to a certain character.
Plus, it could also be a great way to introduce people to lore! There’s so much lore in this universe that’s never really explained in this game, just in other games. This would be a great way to show it off!
I attached a few examples I made! Would love to see this added!

Excellent idea!

Dan, hire this individual!

I honestly think the Aether History bits are an even bigger benefit, seeing as we could use more in-game lore and storytelling right now. Plus, the devs could even include the occasional shitpost, especially considering just how many skins they have available to them.
Brilliant!

This would also be great for fun facts, both mechanically (_ is currently the game’s single most damaging move, __ is the heaviest/lightest/slowest/fastest character, etc) and for the larger aether universe (Clairen’s backstory is fully explored in the Tales of Aether comic, Slade and Fleet both debuted in Dungeons of Aether, Zetterburn and Orcane were the only playable characters in the first build of RoA1, etc). Rivals has such a legacy behind it already that a lot of newcomers won’t know about, anything that encourages people to get more curious about the larger franchise would be awesome.
Also, completley inconsequential fun facts about characters. I wanna hear what Gouie does in his free time, or Olympia’s favorite food or whatever.
This also would be a nice conversation starter for streamers, since every time they are loading up a match it gives them something to talk with viewers about
So many ideas of how this could be cool. There could even be Tournament blurbs, highlighting big past tournaments and celebrating who won them
Amazing idea. I can’t imagine this would be too difficult to add to the game, and cycling through tips while queued would be a great way to get it in front of (new) players’ eyes.
There are so many small little nuances to mechanics and systems in RoA2 that it takes hours to learn about, especially if you’re only playing a couple of characters. I’ve been wanting a “tips & tricks” menu for months for this reason.
The mock-ups are great. I love the color coding.
