I think it makes complete since to include the option to completely remove non-essential graphical elements like stage backgrounds or certain particle effects for the sake of running the game on lower-end machines, or perhaps allowing even lower resolution scaling. I have several friends who love this game, but can’t play it due to not having powerful enough PCs and the performance mods not being consistently updated.
