As public perception of Lox gets more positive, I’m sure we’ll see more people complaining about him sitting under platforms and farming magma. I don’t know if it merits actual changes, especially across all skill levels, but I had a suggestion in case the team does take another look at the mechanic. Alternately, this could also be a fun rune in Abyss Mode once that launches.
Essentially, once Loxodont collects a charge from a magma patch, that patch then becomes “scorched earth.” Lox cannot extract any more magma charges from Scorched Earth, however, as a trade-off, Scorched Earth still gives Loxodont a ground bounce off his down throw and side special like Magma does. The Scorched Earth could reset when Lox dies, on ground bounce, after a certain number of magma charges have been collected elsewhere, or simply after a timer.
This way, Lox is forced to move around the stage a bit more to keep collecting charges, but gets to actually play around with the ground bounces that he usually doesn’t get to use at all outside of landing a special pummel. Like I said, I think Lox is just fine as of right now (as a mid-level Lox main myself), but I think this would be a neat idea to play around with and would make for a really cool Abyss rune.
