Revert the reversion of puddle timer#150

Let orcane players learn something new

This also shows that the studio has no backbone and will bow down to people harrassing them. This sets a horrible precedent for future nerfs, and it will get MUCH worse. PLEASE never let this happen again.

This was more of a joke post but I’m just hoping that the devs don’t often flip flop on decisions this fast in the future, i really think that the timer should’ve been kept while deciding on what else to do with it

And also let the change EXIST for a month at least, let players see if they aren’t overreacting about it. I played at lease a few dozen games with the timer, and I died like once or twice due to me not being used to it yet. It was a good nerf. Now orcane (who was already top3 at worst) stays with only the buffs, while avoiding the nerfs. I’m 99% sure they didn’t even try playing him, they just went to nolt to complain without testing.

yeah i’m surprised they changed it that fast. i figured they’d expect there to be a lot of initial backlash and be more willing to let the change sit longer before deciding if it really needs to go, but i guess not

revert the reversion of the reversion of the puddle timer

Putting a puddle on the ground is free and almost impossible to contest, except with a really hard and non rewarding parry.
Puddle being unremovable while staying for a whole stock is not a great design and the timer was a step in the right direction.
Listening to low level players who don’t know how to play and don’t want to learn new things is not how you balance a competitive fighting game.

It’s really not that deep, there is no precedent being set. This is the same team that got floorhugging hit pieces the week the game was coming out

They should revert it and make the timer even shorter, it’d be so funny

So like, joke post, but some people are taking it seriously and talking down the devs for “listening to low level players” and “having no backbone”. (As if they haven’t stood by a majority of their unpopular decisions in the past.)

Dan on Thursday’s stream made it clear this was a change he was iffy on while in the testing phase up till it launched, a sentiment others on the dev team seemed to share. Him and Etalus also went on record after reverting the change that the team winded up not really liking how it was shaping up to be for reasons similar to some people against the change aswell.

And like… at that point, if they aren’t confident in a change while testing it and winded up not liking how it turned out shortly after it launched, then it would’ve been a waste of everyone’s time leaving it in the game for a month only to hit Orcane’s puddle with another rework that might not even have a timer to begin with.

It’s not like they aren’t going to nerf puddle when used across the stage. Just that the devs want to workshop a solution that they are truly confident in, and one that won’t wind up being as insanely polarizing as this one was.

People that want the nerf back has never played Orcane.
It is the single most annoying feeling nerf ever to hit the game.
